How to Test Your Pixel

If you have recently updated your site, changed some info or would like to test your pixel to be sure the program is tracking correctly you can place a pixel test. Our integration team will follow up to confirm the results and help troubleshoot if needed.

Please note that you should reach out to advertiser-support@pepperjamnetwork.com  if you are planning to update your website/shopping cart provider as we may be able to provide some tips, or best practices based on the shopping cart you are going to use which will help make the transition more seamless for the program.

In order to place a pixel test, navigate to Program > Tracking Integration and follow the steps below:

(1) Ensure you have cookie blocking and ad blocking software disabled. Also, be sure that all necessary parameters, if applicable, are on the generic link to assure our pixel tracking fires during the test order. Then click on the blue link that says "Publisher Test Link - CLICK HERE to Test Pixel!".

(2) You will be redirected to your website to make a purchase. Please place the two orders exactly as detailed below:

Order 1

  • Use a desktop or laptop
  • Select any item, order two of it in the same size, color, or other options. The exact same product ordered twice.
  • Select an item in a completely different category on your site as it is organized. This item will need to have options like different sizes, colors, etc. Order one of the item, then change the options for the item and order a second one. If your site does not have items with selectable sizes, colors, etc., please let us know and simply order one each of two different products for this test.
  • Use a coupon code that discounts the order. Not a discount code that provides free shipping or items.
  • When checking out, create a new account using an email address that has never been used to place an order before. This will check to see if you register as a new customer. Be sure to save the email address and password to be used again in the second order.

Report this first order as detailed in steps 3-5. Then place this next order.

Order 2

  • Use a smart phone or tablet. Do not worry about trying to get the source code. When asked for the source code, just enter a placeholder like "mobile".
  • Select any item, order two of it in the same size, color, or other options. The exact same product ordered twice.
  • Select an item in a different category on your site.
  • When checking out, use the email address and password set up in the previous order. This will check to see if you register as a return customer.

Report this second order as detailed in steps 3-5.

(3) After your purchase is made, when you get to the "thank you" (order confirmation page) copy the source code of that page by right clicking, selecting view page source, select all of the page source text displayed, copy and paste it into the large text box in your Pepperjam account. If you are placing an order on a mobile device, please just write the word mobile in the source code text box.

(4) Then supply the expected tracked amount for the order in the Sale Amount text box followed by the Order ID in its text box. The expected tracked amount is the subtotal of all of the prices and quantities of the order's items with discounts applied but taxes and shipping fees excluded. If the subtotal is $10, the discount is $1, the tax is $2, and the shipping is $3, the amount submitted with the test is subtotal minus discounts or $10 - $1 = $9.

(5) We must receive a copy of the order confirmation email or a screenshot of the order details in your next email in order to review the tests ourselves.

Upon submission, our Integration Team will reach out with results for verification. Please let us know if you have any questions. Note: The test order created will not reflect within Pepperjam.

The Integration Team will follow up after submission.
